Mildred Donlon, PhD

Mildred Donlon is a Program Manager in the Defense Sciences Office of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in Arlington, VA. She received her MS degree in Radiation Biology and Biophysics and her Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Rochester Medical Center, Rochester, NY. She developed and managed programs involving advanced chemical and biological detectors for battlefield, counter-proliferation, and intelligence applicationssince joining DARPA in 1994. Her current programs involve the use of beneficial microorganisms to fight infections and maintain health in the war fighter and to provide new energy sources from fiber-digesting bacteria. She has funded efforts in determining biomarkers in exhaled breath as a novel detection diagnostic and has several SBIRs dealing with exhaled breath as a potential radiation biodosimeter.
