David H. Moore, DVM, PhD

Prior to his retirement in 1998 as a Colonel in the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps, Dr. Moore served as the Director of the DOD Medical Chemical Defense Research Program, the Deputy Commander of the US Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense, the U.S. Army Surgeon Generals consultant for Comparative Medicine and the Veterinary Corps consultant for Physiology, Pharmacology, Toxicology and Microbiology. Dr. Moore has been active in national security programs related to the use of chemical and biological agents. He has served as a member of the National Research Council (NRC) Committee on Toxicology. In 1999 he was an author of the Institute of Medicine report Chemical and Biological Terrorism: Research and Development to Improve Civilian Medical Response and served as an advisor to the NRC in the preparation of the report Protecting the Health and Welfare of Deployed U.S. Forces. Dr. Moore has served on various panels for the Naval Studies Board and the Air Force Scientific Advisory Board. He received his D.V.M. from the University of Georgia in 1977 and his a Ph.D. in Physiology) from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a Diplomate of both the American Board of Toxicology and the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Board of Toxicology, American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine, Maryland Veterinary Medical Association, Sigma XI (Scientific Research Society), and the National Academy of Science (COT).
