Terry C. Pellmar, PhD

Dr. Pellmar is an expert in the field of radiobiology. She received her Sc.B in Biology from Brown University and her PhD in Physiology and Pharmacology from Duke University. She is a member of Sigma Xi, Radiation Research Society, Oxygen Club of Washington DC, Association for Women in Science, and New York Academy of Science.
Dr. Pellmar has over twenty years of experience in radiation biology, depleted uranium toxicity, free radical effects in neural systems, medical countermeasures for radiological/nuclear threats, and behavioral health policy. She has contributed to numerous research projects and policy studies, has made over 100 invited presentations, has more than 70 published works, and has significant teaching experience.
Dr. Pellmar is presently Professor and Chair of the Radiation Biology Department at the Uniformed Services University. In addition, she is Scientific Director at the Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute at the Uniformed Services University where she oversees the institute’s research program on development of radiation countermeasures and biodosimetric assessment.
Recent activities include:

Established a Doctoral Program in Radiation Biology at the Uniformed Services University.

Co-chaired and serving on the Radiological/Nuclear Threat Countermeasures Working Group, a US government advisory panel.

Served on The National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements (NCRP) committee (SC 2-1) on "Radiation Protection Recommendations for First Responders"
